Pakistan unfortunately has been the playground for selfish players, game fixers, Players who are highly proficient in rigging the rules and defying the logic. Successive Administrations moved in with lot of rhetoric to change the conditions, ensure fair-play and transform the country into a genuine welfare State. They hid behind the slogans of Islam, Democracy, Roti - Kapra - Makan, Industrial - Motor Ways -Yellow Cabs, Enlightened Moderation and Reconciliation  Alas the rhetoric remained rhetoric, downward slide in every field has continued consistently.  Everyone in the Administration, however, did transform their personal fortunes and possessions to unprecedented limits. Governments came, sweets were distributed, governments left, drums were beaten and sweets were distributed. Promises remained promises and responsibility of failure has forever lied on those who preceded.

Last Set Up survived from 1999 to 2008. Opposition kept demanding the change to 'REAL DEMOCRACY'. Circumstances erupting suddenly in March 2007 opened the gaps in the Government. Lawyers created mayhem and politicians pounced.  Protagonists met, spoke and drew contours of a rare arrangement to satisfy all and sundry and named it NRO. The contrivers and authors left for their  next destinations leaving their acrimonious brainchild behind. NRO is an extraordinary arrangement which no one likes to own but everyone wants to benefit from. Billions of Rupees of scams and frauds, Thousands of Murder and other cases and scores of punishments overturned/written off  - is the product of this NAUSEOUS RIGMAROLE ORDINANCE.  

NRO was challenged in the Court which gave the Parliament 4 months to provide it legality. Parliament declined to stamp its validity hence the Court squashed it and that started the game..........Court wants implementation of its decision and the beneficiaries desperately desire to hang on with the accrued benefits........on one pretext or the other.........result a WWE styled no holds barred match. It seems Government has no other agenda whatsoever and the Court only this case. The stakeholder care a damn for 180 million people.

We were in Saudi Arabia in mid 80s - patriotism ran high. Satellite TV and cable vision were still a matter of the future and erstwhile VCR was a house hold item. We unanimously  decided that no one will watch Indian Movies, (times have changed really - cinepaxes {all six screens} in Pakistan are screening Indian Movies day in and day out)   therefore, we turned towards 'ALMASARA TUL HURRA' or whatever it was pronounced in Arabic. Video shops were flooded with cassettes of WWF free style professional wrestling. Initially everyone thought it to be genuine, but soon it became clear that wrestlers were actually entertainers/actors. Shows are choreographed and scripted, story-lines are conceived and characters enacted. I am not suggesting for a moment that things happening in and around the courts are 'FIXED'. There are similarities though - The owner of WWE is one Mr. Vincent Kennedy McMahon with a peculiar strut and whenever an actor wanted to leave for another promotion or vacation, he is shown to do wrong things and then in one of the shows Mr. McMahon struts down the Aisle and gets into the face of the wrestler to pronounce his favorite catch-line "YA RRRRRRRRRRRR FIYAAARRED". The actor begs, kneels and finally leaves to re-emerge after some time.

Many have been FIYAAARRED up-til now in NRO case and will this circus keep going irrespective of the state THE STATE AND POOR MASSES are in? Can we sacrifice our ill-gotten wealth and pampered Egos and Ids?
