Allah Karim Lays Down in Quran "And walk not on earth with haughty (arrogant) self-conceit: for, verily, you can never rend the earth asunder (into pieces), nor can you ever grow as tall as the mountains" 17:37.
In Sura Qasas it is revealed that "As for that [happy] life in the hereafter. We grant it [only] to those who do not seek to exalt themselves on earth, nor yet to spread corruption; for the future belongs to Allah-conscious" 28:83.
Rasool Ullah Salalho Wasalam said "A Momin is free of two evils; BAKHALAT AND BAD-KHULQI i.e. jealousy and ruthlessness (UN-sublime way of life).
It is famously said that "To gauge the character of a man, see how he treats those who can not do anything for him or to/with him"
Only Allah-conscious people can be like above.
Generally the practice is opposite. In Stan Ford University USA a study was conducted in a mock Jail set up under strict observation of renowned Social Psychologists. Half of the selected students were made Wardens and others as Inmates. Within short span of time the participants started behaving exactly as per their uniforms and charter of duties. The Wardens crossed many red-lines in administering the punishment and dehumanizing the Inmates; knowing fully well that they were their colleagues.
The Study concluded that huge percentage of humans would change with assumption of AUTHORITY, PRECEDENCE and COSTUME.
Most of us did not require the Study or its Conclusions......We have seen it, practiced it and absorbed it as a routine in our lives. At some stage of our lives (each one of us does) we lose our speed, nuisance, value and become stationary as far as worldly progression is concerned. We are confronted with the situation "PUT UP OR SHUT UP" most of us have to put up because of certain compulsions (mostly self imposed). Those who were younger - started late and in their developmental phase came across us, respected us, revered us and once we became inutile, bypassed us - precisely as per the Law of Nature. Pretty soon (generally) the respect wanes out, a frown (Who is this old charlie?) sets in. Self destruction makes one Allah-conscious and I see certain WaliUllahs' in every organization who have made the deliberate decision to PUT UP.
Pretty long prelude hoon; ----------but exceptions are always there: good and different people are around and would remain forever.
I am pleasantly surprised on a telephone call which I received today. Gentleman on the other side of the wire was a very senior executive of an esteemed Organization. He was very kind to show his remorse that he had not recognized me at a certain office where we were sitting together, though he and all others present there exchanged greetings and pleasantries with me and amongst themselves. VERY GRACIOUS OF HIM, I must also admit that whenever he met me, has always been very courteous and more so when he actually did not recognize me. I earnestly pray for him that he maintains his sublime ways.
Allah Karim and His Prophet Salalho Wasalam like humility and tenderness in humans.
It also shows that inner personality is more dominant as compared to the acquired one. WE SHOULD BE KIND AND COURTEOUS WITH EACH OTHER IRRESPECTIVE OF COSTUME WE DON OR CHAIR WE OCCUPY. ALLAH KARIM WILL BE PLEASED WITH US AND WILL BESTOW HIS UNLIMITED BLESSINGS ON US.
